Our Philosophy

Andy and Lisa Honea have been giving private music instruction in Orange County, California for over thirty years.  We believe that music instruction is an essential element of a good education. The ability to create beautiful sounds gives people great joy and satisfaction.  The skills necessary to create beautiful music also develop the mind and enrich our sense of achievement.  Critical thinking skills are further enhanced when students learn how to practice effectively.  Listening skills are advanced as students strive to improve their tone and artistry.  Concentration improves as longer, more complex pieces are mastered.  Students will exhibit increasing confidence, physical stamina, and mental fortitude as they see and hear tangible results from their hard work, practice and discipline.

Academie de Belle Musique teachers, Andy and Lisa Honea, have extensive experience teaching students from kindergarten through adult.  We are committed to cultivating a solid base of good technique, listening skills, and artistic development from the very first lesson.  A foundation of music theory and music history is also fundamental to our teaching approach.  Both of us excel at teaching complex concepts in easy to understand language and explanations.

Students will learn in a patient and encouraging environment where they will develop musical skills throughout their studies.  We believe it is important to not only give students concrete goals, but to provide clear, concise instruction on ways to accomplish those goals.

It brings us great joy to watch our students develop from very young beginners to accomplished musicians as young adults.  Many of our students participate in the Pacific Symphony Youth Ensembles, Orange County Youth Symphony, the Orange County High School for the Arts, All- State and All-Southern Honors Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, as well as various local honors groups.
